Little
Rock, Arkansas | Information & Attractions |
Little
Rock is a vibrant metropolitan area with nationally recognized
medical centers and excellent public services. Unlike other urban
areas, it's easy to get around Little Rock by freeway and city byway.
Centrally located in the nation, Little Rock is but a few hours
drive from major cities.
Little Rock is a well spread
out town, with several sections that you can enjoy. If you are in
downtown Little Rock, you are close to what is perhaps the most
popular spot in town. The historic, downtown River
Market District has been part of a revitalization of the riverfront
over the past decade. The River Market itself includes an outdoor
farmer's market, with all types of fresh, local produce being offered
on Tuesdays and Saturdays, late April through October, and an indoor
market where shopkeepers offer everything from gourmet coffee to
fresh sushi.
For the families and children
in the bunch, there is a spectacular water park called Wild
River Country off of Exit 148 on Crystal Hill Rd. towards Maumelle,
AR. Wild River Country is Arkansas's largest water park. The park
offers many fun and exciting rides like the Vortex, Accelerator,
Barratuba and more. There are also relaxing rides like lazy river
where you can float the day away or the Wave Pool which contains
over a half-million gallons of wave fun!
During November of 2004, the
people of Little Rock got the Clinton
Presidential Library. The Clinton Presidential Center and Park
-- America's 12th Presidential Library – has been opened.
Located on the banks of the Arkansas River in the River Market District
of downtown Little Rock, the $160-million-dollar structure contains
20,000 square feet of library and museum space, including an authentic
replica of the Oval Office and the Cabinet Room.
